Ciarán Kennedy appointed as President of the ACEI 2018-2019
Barrett Mahony Consulting Engineers (BMCE) are proud to announce that our Managing Director, Ciarán Kennedy, has been appointed as President of the Association of Consulting Engineers Ireland (ACEI) for the 2018/19 term. This is a significant achievement and is a great vote in confidence for the practice.
The Association of Consulting Engineers Ireland is the voice of Consulting Engineers across all disciplines in Ireland and is a member body of the European Federation of Consulting Engineers (EFCA) and the Worldwide International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC).
Established since 1938 – ACEI is a voluntary self-regulatory professional body representing the business and professional interests of firms and individuals engaged in Consulting Engineering. The ACEI assists in resolving issues of importance for clients and Consultants alike and contributes to the development of relevant public policy through involvement in relevant working groups, Government committees, and the development of model conditions of engagement and policy papers.
Ciarán graduated from DIT Bolton Street with a First Class Honours Degree in Structural Engineering in 1996. He achieved Chartered Status with Engineers Ireland and the Institution of Structural Engineers in 2000 and progressed through roles of Project Engineer and Project Director with BMCE.
He has maintained an active involvement in the Structures Committee of the ACEI since 2002 allowing Ciarán to keep abreast with technical developments in the construction industry, an industry that has seen fundamental changes in procedures, legislation and regulations over that time. He become a Fellow of the Association of Engineers of Ireland (FConsEI) and became actively involved in the ACEI at executive level in 2006. He has served on Executive committees under many esteemed presidents over the past decade in various roles including Convenor of the structures committee, convenor of the CPD Committee and Honorary Secretary, second Vice President and Vice President.
Ciarán is honoured to be chosen to represent the Association and its members, and looks forward to dealing with the challenges that will no doubt be presented.
