Project Description
Project: The Coachworks, 4 Regent Street
Client: Hamilton Court Developments
Architect: Claridge Architects
The project consisted of a four-storey development of 6 apartments with commercial space provided at ground floor level. The site is a restricted site located at the corner of Wellington Road and Regent Street at Kensal Green, which was previously occupied as a garage/car washing premises.
Structurally the scheme consisted of precast wideslab floors with an in-situ concrete topping. The wideslab floor plates were supported by a steel framed structure to ground floor level. The foundations consisted of in-situ RC ground beams and piled foundations down to suitable bearing stratum. A suspended ground floor slab was provided to the commercial spaces at ground floor level.
The ground floor facade is set back under the upper floors, meaning the facade cantilevers from first floor to roof level, with cantilevered first floor steel beams provided to accommodate this architectural design feature. Barrett Mahony provided Civil/Structural design consultancy services for our client Hamilton Court Developments from scheme to practical completion stages of the project.
